Someone said there are only 12 days left until Christmas. Surely they were just over-exaggerating. If you are like me and still finishing up some of your holiday decor, then I have an easy DIY project for you.
This was our first year to have fresh garland in the house. After realizing wrangling the garland was a two-person project, I had Tate help me string it down the banister. There are lots of places to buy fresh garland, but two of my favorites are Home Depot 25 ft for $6 (shown below) or Trader Joes has 20 ft for $6.99 – note I did double up the garland to make it appear thicker. Here’s the before…
You could just leave it like this… but I decided to take it up a notch. I went by Trader Joes and bought a $3 bundle of eucalyptus. I also cut a few stems of greenery from a tree in the backyard. I’m not sure what kind it is… but it looks like a Christmas Tree 😉 Tie a little floral wire to each stem and just add it in! Easy peasy!
They only had one bundle of Eucalyptus left at TJ, so I will probably be going back for more. Also – if you are hosting a party at your house, I would wait to do all of this a day or two before the party because it does dry pretty fast. The garland still looks great but it doesn’t smell as pine-y as it once did. Hope you have fun doing something like this down your banister or around your front door!
I also needed a quick tree skirt. After looking for a faux fur one, I decided to just buy this faux-fur sheepskin rug on Amazon Prime and wrapped it around. Normally you would probably want two of these, but once you fill with presents, no one will notice the missing part. Then you can use it around the house after!
